Default New Hire Bases and Reserve

Hello guys,

What are new hires getting assigned as far as bases go straight out of training on the CRJ?
Any chance to get IAH or DFW straight out of IOE?
How long is reserve nowadays on the junior bases?

Thanks in advance!

Literally answered in many other threads here. Use the search function and you can find it.

Sorry but people here just start new threads with the same questions and it gets annoying.

Currently it looks like about 6mo to get into either of those but things are always changing. IAH is a smaller base then DFW so it may be harder. Lots of movement will take place this year.

That's been pretty standard. About 6 months overall, including the training footprint. Around 3 months of training, then IOE and differences, then bases such as DFW a month or two after that. ATL and others have had a similar timeline over the last year, ranging from awarded toward the end of training to 1-2 months after IOE. Only downside is bases like DFW and ATL have a lot of reserves and you'll spend a long time before getting a line.

Looking at the seniority dates posted, it seems that PHX and TUS have the longest wait to get out of training. Do you guys know the reserve and wait times to hold a LINE for a new FO at those bases? And please correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I understand it is : if an FO has gained his experience, wants to upgrade and is based in AZ, he will have to move/commute to attain captain status correct?

a year to hold a line in PHX, TUS as a FO

Yes if you're based in PHX as FO and upgrade to Captain you'll be in DTW or ORD for a while

Appreciate the info Choppa, I wanted to get a realistic perspective on the progression and where I would likely be based because of it. Looking at flight volume out of PHX to ORD & DTW a commute later on could be doable...but a commute nonetheless!

Right now it takes 4-5 years to hold PHX or TUS as a captain. That can change of course, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you have you upgrade to a different base. You can be an FO there until you have the seniority to upgrade there if being based there is more important to you than upgrading. If it’s more important to upgrade as soon as possible, then it’s off to the Midwest with you.
