Default Anyone else get ByPassed?

ERJ FO with a bid for CRJ CA. Got bypassed for the March 5th CRJ upgrade transition class. So I'll receive CA pay starting 5 weeks after March 5th. Cool.

Anybody have any idea how long that will last before getting a class? The email said "company need". Sounds like they want to keep the ERJs staffed.

I guess it's going both ways. CRJ and ERJ are understaffed for captains. CRJ CAs are getting passed for making the transition.

You'd think if they are short on CAs, they wouldn't bypass anybody trying to upgrade.

I looked at the award list - didnt see any ERJ FO that was awarded CRJ CA, but plenty of CRJ FOs were awarded CRJ CA.

They have a short course so that likely is "good enough" for interim staffing. It's always negative anyways so what does it matter, right?

It sounds like most ERJ to CRJ guys are bypassed for a couple months. Have you called VD yet? She is typically quite helpful.

Buddy of mine was only bypassed for one month before getting awarded a class in January. Shouldn’t be too long of a wait; make sure you have ANY listed in your standing bid that will probably get you awarded sooner.

They are running 2 ERJ upgrade classes in March and told the CRJ CA that the company cannot afford to lose any CRJ CA. Wouldn't surprise me if they run another 2 upgrade classes again in April and bypass all the CRJ transitions. With the short course, they can get the FO upgrades on the line as CA's much faster.

Is there any kind of a short course for ERJ to CRJ transition?

No, it’s the standard course with new hires. 2 weeks of ground and about 2-3 weeks of sims.

My friend on the ERJ was bypassed back in the fall for CRJ. Few months later, went to class. Had to take a break for a little bit. When he came back, they said "actually we're putting upgrades on hold for a while. So you can come back later and finish upgrade on the CRJ, or you could just upgrade on the ERJ around the same time." So now he's just right seat on the ERJ for a couple more months, until his upgrade class. He was making CA pay since the bypass, and now is back to FO rates again, but it was a no brainer since he can just stay on type. I don't remember the reason they gave him, but something is backed up for a little while.
