Default OO Progression with prior 121

Hey guys,

What would the scenario be for a new hire with over 1000 SIC 121 time? Originally west coast base (you probably get the clue). The goal is to upgrade and be based on the west cost. I know reserve would be long once I upgrade to CA but curious how would would the progression be laid out over at OO. (Training/ how long till upgrade/ERJ or CRJ and west coast based.)

Thanks!

Most likely, go to indoc -> ground -> Sims -> checkride -> CA ground -> CA sims.
There are tons of CA slots available and people are waiting to upgrade to the base of their choice.

You’ll be in reserve purgatory forever but that would be the same anywhere.
Going to the west coast... depends on the month.

Also inquire about a “short course” for already typed in the aircraft. Fly ERJ west coast, then upgrade to CRJ....short course would have you online in 1/3 the time as say going straight to the CRJ.. With Compass aircraft and AA E175’s coming there will be fast West Coast movement year...SFO/LAX/SEA are obtainable before ioe is done on the ERJ.

What would happen to someone that has prior 121 time 15 years ago. I am very close in coming back to the industry and wondering how fast they would make me upgrade. I have over 1,500 121 time but that was from the early 2000s. Plus at that time no ATP was required to fly 121, which I currently do not have if that changes upgrade as well. Not sure how comfortable I would be to upgrade right after FO training.

They won’t make you upgrade. You upgrade if you put a bid in and they get down to your seniority number, but you can hang out in the right seat as long as you like.

Uh, I definitely wouldn’t count on upgrading right after training. The dates on the website are skewed by the Christmas upgrade class, which for the last several years has gone to anyone with 1000 hours of 121 time and was willing to be in upgrade over the holidays. And even that is Midwest/COS. If you want west coast CA, you’ll have to be here a couple years first at least. If you are okay with Midwest then you can probably upgrade this Christmas, but you’ll be stuck there on reserve for quite awhile.
