He just doesn’t know…. But I still like his new guy enthusiasm.

123AB- Go easy on the salty lineholders. We were you once. Some now come here to complain and voice frustrations. Personally, I’d rather read about it occasional then listen to it all day. Trust me, some of us are ****ed for good reason.

Some even hope the charter op plan succeeds. Effectively turning back the clock on Colgan, all in the name of corporate greed.

That's all sorts of ****ed up. Please explain why any line pilot not retiring in the next two years would want that to succeed.

Last month, someone in my class even asked one of the training department heads what the washout rate was and the answer was around 4-6% and he said the number varies due to a number of reasons. Some in fact wash out, some decide that 121 is not for them, some have family issues at home.

It’s been said before and its worth saying again. For those new to this forum there are some accurate things on here, but there are also a ton of wild inaccuracies and mis-truths as well. This forum is dominated by angry people and even a handful of trolls too.
wait till you get to sim. That’s where the numbers of booted soars. You are so naive and in for a rude awakening

I was simply stating that interviews are still required to be hired by SkyWest and I was stating the current washout rate since I am actually in training can provide an up to date answer.

If people want to believe the validity of your statements that interviews are no longer required to be hired here or that washout rates are in the “double-digits”…well, they are free to make up their own mind.
’ interview’ in quotes for emphasis. Because it’s a joke. Literally a waste of time. They hire every Tom, dick and Harry.

Already there and nearly done with sims. Didn't see anyone around me washing out at my location or in my original class which is spread out around the country, but of course that's just one slice in time. I ran the math again and the seniority list: out of the last 122 people in my class and the class ahead of me in training, we've lost a total of 4 people. That is far from the high double digit washout rate that was claimed and that was the only thing I was trying to shed some light on. Current data from someone in training right now and not some washed up angry pilot that hasn't been in training for a long time.

Am I new? Yep.

Do I have a lot to learn? Absolutely. Getting my type rating is nothing more than a license to learn and I am humbled knowing it will take hundreds of hours to become much more aware than I am right now. And I'll listen closely to the CAs next to me and work hard to gain knowledge and understanding. This is a second career for me and I don't take the responsibility of this job lightly.

Is SkyWest going to be perfect? Of course not. Will there be things that chap my hide once I actually get out there? Yep. But I am still going to have fun and do everything I can to lift others up and be enjoyable to be around on trips. CrewDogs taking care of each other is pretty darn important because each other is all we have...and unfortunately that's something a few people in this forum have lost.

We are still conducting the same interview format we always have. It’s interesting you say we’re hiring anyone with a pulse because this year we’ve sent more applicants home without a CJO than any other year in the past decade. The applicant pool is becoming weaker by the month, which is concerning for the future of the industry.

well. If that is true, it’s good news.

I'm now deciding between Envoy and Skywest... The QOL (which I also define by the number of nights I get to spend at home) is way more important to me than pay. But I really don't want to go to ORD neither for Envoy nor for Skywest.

Thanks
Back on topic…ever since COVID hit locals and 2 days have been hard to come by. It’s mostly 3 and 4 days now. Eleven days off isn’t uncommon but I’ve also seen 15 lately. Right now, with the AA wholly owned carriers paying what they are, I’d go there first for sure. However, they just very recently upped their pay, so I’d also keep an eye on the other regionals for big bumps in their pay too. It’s hard enough attracting quality applicants with competitive pay right now.
