121 check in the box, ex-mil
I was flying fighters before a 2 year ground tour, now flying part 91. Talked with Delta hiring and was told non competitive and to get some 121 stink on me.
Anyways, I’ve only heard good things about SkyWest, I live in Vegas and would probably try to get Palm Springs out of training, I believe I saw that is very junior.
I’m looking for a solid, fair training experience and to learn 121 ops from a good company. Has anyone been in my shoes? How’d it work out going to SkyWest?
While I have apps in at the majors, I understand I am not very competitive and that’s why I’m looking at SkyWest. If you have other regionals to look at with me living in Vegas, I appreciate that as well! Thanks!

PSP is fairly junior but also a small domicile, so you may be waiting awhile for slots to open up to get in. LAX is achievable and more junior. PHX also a viable option.
Another note on PSP, it is a MX base as opposed to an actual hub, so finding commutable trips can be difficult if not impossible.

I went to NGPA, Delta had line pilots that were on the hiring department on hand to look at resumes and answer questions. I appreciated his honesty and giving me suggestions on how to become competitive.

be prepared to answer the question in the interview: “what do you do if a major calls in 6 months”.

I had a variation of that question during my interview two weeks ago. I was honest that I was there to accrue experience to gain that next step. They were totally OK with that during the interview, I think they prefer honesty to obviously trying to tell them what you think they want to hear.
