ORD CRJ or ERJ Class?

Hi everyone,

SkyWest gave me the option for ERJ and CRJ classes in April, both of those classes are relatively close to each other.

My goal is maximum career progression, airplane doesn't really matter to me. I am going to be living in Chicago.

For First Officer does it make a difference if I take ERJ or CRJ?

Generally I have heard CRJ is supposed to be quicker but was wondering if that's the case for ORD.

Any help is much appreciated! Excited to get started soon!
Thank you

Take the CRJ. ERJ ORD base it probably going to close, it's shrinking a lot right now with UA giving a lot of flying to XJet. Upgrade times are shorter on the CRJ as well, just get your time and you can get it basically if you are willing to go to DTW.

Right now, the CRJ is a faster upgrade but I'm not sure about tomorrow. Theres some growth coming with the AA ERJ flying.

A lot of ERJ FOs have upgraded onto the CRJ. Going right into the CRJ will better prepare you for the CRJ upgrade provided the ERJ upgrade doesnt start getting junior.

I've heard ORD is downsizing though. Not sure if that's mainly CRJ or ERJ - someone else can chime in on this.

In 5 years we're all going to be flying A350s for DL anyways so don't stress too much.

Would you recommend CRJ for west coast? I’m from San Diego and would like to be based out of LAX as soon as I could after training. Movement across the board is better and the new hire dates on their website reflects that.

Don’t really care what I fly if it gets me a better QOL on the west coast. Thoughts?

Take the 175. All the west coast bases are going really junior for FO's right now because of the Compass flying.

Go CRJ....

For what it’s worth I started training on the ERJ beginning of November, completed training end of December. SFO base, finished IOE mid January and awarded LAX for March.
Hoping for growth in LAX on the ERJ.

I heard ORD March target lines for the ERJ did not decrease for the first time in awhile in the last bidding period. Also, a very senior captain mentioned his mgmt connections told him at least some of the new American 175s are likely going there, so hopefully it doesn’t close. Im trying to get ORD to avoid commuting, right now stuck commuting to reserve in MSP. Im likely going to get a line in MSP next month, but I think Id rather sit reserve in ORD and be able to drive to work than commute to MSP to hold a line. What do you guys think?

The base could have shrunk yet boosted targets by reducing the reserve component. Which is good if you are on the fringe. Bad if you are looking to drop or bid in.
Or maybe it grew.
