How's it going out there?

Seeing as how I'm sitting around on VTO, I'm wondering if any operating crew can post some reports of how it's going out there. Seeing all the jacked-up trips in OT (I saw one with an 8 hour sit at an outstation followed by a DH), I'm just curious how it's going out there...

It’s literally hour by hour.
Block in, Fly, Block out, DAMAGE REPORT!
Rinse and repeat.
I’ve talked to CS multiple times in the last 24 hours and the schedulers & CS are barely even taking to each other.
Every response is “let’s wait and see what happens in the next few hours”.

What are you expecting exactly?

I’m expecting exactly what we’re getting.
I literally just answered turbo’s question.

I’m seeing reserves flying every day, not just from people calling in sick but the fact that everything has become a cluster. Often a pairing has multiple deadheads and “limos” for every one leg you fly. Crews made up from 3-4 different bases, etc.

Happy to have a job but terrified of bringing the virus home to family. Lots of FAs and some pilots don’t follow social distancing. I get we are all already exposed but reducing that exposure by 20% is still 20%. This is life or death.

Yeah, the last trip I flew, we had an FA coughing and sneezing and complaining she felt terrible. Sitting next to her on the hotel van was fantastic, let me tell you. We asked her why the heck she didn't call off...you can guess the answer. "I need the money! I don't want an occurrence!!"

Fortunately that was 12 days ago and I feel fine, and so does my wife, but seriously folks...

I had a similar experience but I didn’t say anything.
At the time I was 50/50 ready to feel “Flu like” for a week to get it over with.
Most will hate this but we need even more flexibility to complete these flights as flights are still being cancelled. I don’t need to find a dh into a city where a SkyWest crew is probably dh’ing out of.
reflow should have been a part of the April MOU.
Which is one step up from day laborer. Chief rolls up to the Home Depot parking lot with a bull-horn from the back of his truck, “I need two to Phoenix, just two”.

And how exactly do YOU(assuming you're a pilot) practice proper "social distancing " in the cockpit?
get real. If it bothers you that much, stay home.

it’s exactly as I imagined it would be as the airline industry gasps its last breaths

getting more OT on the days that I was not awarded for any trips, standups are really nice because you are at the hotel for about 9 hours. getting paid almost 7-hour credit. Enjoy the VTO brother, we hold the fort for ya.

stay CORONA FREE!
