What is leaving the middle seat open going to do? You’re still not six feet apart. The person in front of you six feet away?

The appearance of feeling better and it’s not feasible anyway.

I don’t live in fear. F it fill every seat if you can. To keep six feet apart that would require one person per row every other row

The six foot rule is not based on any scientific study, just feels good and looks like we’re doing something.

I think it is... From my understanding it’s based on how far droplets can travel if one coughs or sneezes

It’s funny you mention that. The 6 foot rule seems to have come from a 2003 study on SARS1 transmission published in the New England Journal of Medicine. And even funnier is the study took place on commercial aircraft. It is published online for all to read.

There are exceptions apparently:

It is based on scientific studies though...

Nope, just an assumption, nothing scientific.

Not agreeing or disagreeing. But with all the various hype around the 'rona topic and such, I've taken to asking for source material rather than meta articles and such. Therefore, would you be able to point ot such a study? Legit question, I'm seriously interested to read such a thing to understand how they made such a determination.
