Time to leave DTW?

Agreed on the crj upgrade too, they may attempt to staff the ERJ in the future the way they sorta staffed the crj/bro... ie first you were a bro FO and then after a year you could bid the jet FO. If growth/attrition allows I can see big pros and minor cons with this arrangement again.

Speaking as a someone with similar tenure, I'd be facing the same crisis. I loved my time in DTW, and every time I hear recent stories from people displaced or otherwise moving on from there, it makes me sad. The future is eventually 175, just like 15 years ago the future was eventually the CRJ. I guess I tend to be a cynic by nature. I've held out hope that DTW will remain, but the cynicism is flaring up. Endeavor still seems to think they'll take the East CRJ stuff. They just announced a hiring window of up to 400+ (who knows how many they'll actually hire), so maybe Delta is working on the shuffle some more. Being young, fairly junior, not tied down with a house and other commitments, and ability to have significant ERJ seniority in another base, that's hard to pass up. Absolutely wouldn't commute, though. Are they doing ERJ transition again? If so, probably worthwhile to put your name in the hat and enjoy living in base for now until that day comes.
I've thought long and hard about the same scenario: if AA goes into bankruptcy, dissolves their contracts, divests themselves of Skywest, and PHX goes away or becomes tiny, I'd have to be looking around. I'd commute for a bit but ultimately look at relocating to wherever I hypothetically ended up. No family, no house, not really any strings here other than I've been here 4 years and I like living here. I don't want to leave, but if my position dries up then I'd have to make the same tough decision you're faced with.

Yeah, so I hear. Looking like I'm not hearing back from the other big DTW carrier though. I'd likely move eventually, but still curious about the current state of things. Didn't know if the recent surge has changed anything.

No changes on that end unfortunately. Our total system-wide block has been pretty consistent over the past 3-4 months and expecting further growth for Summer. In all honesty I wouldn't plan on DTW growing past what it is right now unless something significant changes. If either MSP or DTW were to come back it'll be MSP. There were just a few vacancies awarded back into MSP for May, after the displacement bid earlier this year.

Hoping not to spread any unfound rumor or get hopes up here. But I just had a few friends book flights out of DTW in August and all they're 900 routes to destinations currently served by 9E but OO is operating them starting in what looks like June. Just poking around TravelNet it seems like we're getting a decent amount more flying back for the summer months. My thoughts are that DL is ramping up flying out of JFK/ATL and shifting 9E back there leaving more room for OO in DTW. Someone else can perhaps attest to the accuracy of TravelNet and who the flights are operated by around 1.5 months ahead of time though.

For example, in TravelNet, you'll still find non-prorate OO 200 flying from DTW past June 4.
