Pilot forced to sleep on plane?

I’m not begrudging any pilot for divert decision making when the outcome is a positive one.
As far as the sleeping on a plane… How is this SO different from the pilots who slept in the DEN airport a couple weeks ago because the company didn’t have hotel rooms for them. Or the commuters sleeping on the crew room couches because we don’t have a commuter policy….

enjoying those new reserve rules that SAPA voted in? Yeah, they really just rubber stamping what is handed down by TG.

Your company has planes and pilots in DEN. They could send a plane anywhere in the west where there are hotel rooms, yet they let crews sleep in the airport instead?

Don’t act like the $hit doesn’t stop stinking once you’re suddenly a union employee.
Guys/gals get sent to the street, and what did they get out of their 2%? Some sorry ass email by some intern about how “they where here for you” while collecting unemployment.

If you knew anything about this captain, you wouldn’t make these imbecilic statements.
Hey, I have an idea, instead of diverting to any number of airports on the way from the EAST coast, let’s divert to an airport to the WEST of Denver that doesn’t have hotels within a 35 minute contract taxi ride, all of which are probably full. THEN we can make a post on LinkedIn and talk to the media about why this was SkyWest’s fault!
This was a self induced error made by a pilot who is NOTORIOUS in the OO system.

GJT ran out of ramp/taxi space so we also diverted to Hayden. Actually ran into that CA on the ground. Luckily we got refueled and headed to Denver. That crew probably timed out and couldn’t get hotel rooms for the night. Unfortunate. Crap happens.

So just to confirm is SkyWest the only airline that has ready reserve rules? Nobody likes ready it’s absolute BS. I’m also most likely a yes vote, but your typical rhetoric/chirping holds no merit as all these regionals with unions have the same BS rules, if not worse.

I’m just trying to understand the mindset at Skywest

Would the FAA call you on it? Probably only if something bad happened.

I’m curious as to what those that leave Skywest and go to a major or LCC think about their unions? I mean I’m pretty sure that joining them and supporting them if there’s a union on property is not mandatory? If you’re really worried about a tax deductible 2% just don’t pay it, right? Skywest, as well as the rest of the industry enjoys or benefits from many things that those unions work hard for. I can’t even imagine what this industry would be like without them? Especially with their work in the safety arena. To do that work for the betterment of the industry costs money. Are they perfect? No. They still have to try to work with upper management on contract issues and enforcement. And that can be challenging. But to me it still looks like they’d have your back more so than an association within the company?

But this isn't OO policy, it was an IROP and the CA failed to man up and insist on adequate rest facilities, and then failed to call fatigued. But who knows, maybe they did get good rest. I guarantee you nobody called the FODO, they just let the midnight shift in CS jerk them around.
