Amazing number no question, but from a stand point of not caring one way or the other...the about of new hires to the amount lost isnt THAT horrific really. Not great, but I would have expected worse. Maybe now the other regionals are offering more the number of pilots OO can hire will also suffer in the 2nd half of the year. Be interesting none the less!

You guys are on pace for 3,000 resignations in a single year. DAMN!!!

From the numbers we can gather the majority of Captains are leaving for Southwest and American, who are both capitalizing on DAL and UAL attempting to help SkyWest attrition by holding back pilots with CJO’s. The first officers are leaving for ULCC’s in boat loads as well. |

No amount of new hires with 0 121 time can replace the departing CAs at all. Who’s going to sit in the left seat next tonthe new hires long enough for them to get 1000 hrs and upgrade eligible? Assuming they don’t leave for a better offer before that happens? Seriously, why do you think OO is looking at 135 ops? You really think they want to derate 50 seat CRJ-200s to 30 pax just to give pax more leg room? |
Well.. we currently have 2,417 Captains. So if we continue with 800 gone every 6 months we’ll be out of Captains in 1 1/2 years.

Only 17 CRJ CA upgrades awarded for August (if I read it correctly). Must not be hurting to bad, but would be interested to see how many we have successfully upgraded this year compared to the numbers that have left.
When I went through GS back in early January, the CRJ CA Upgrade class had close to 50 in it. It was kinda funny seeing 8 people (plus instructor) jammed into the matrix rooms for the afternoon sessions instead of the normal 2 or 3. |
