current/soon-future CRJ IOE?
Hi y'all
I have a class date starting next month for CRJ, I am trying to make plans for the next few months during and after the training. can anyone who just went through their CRJ training tell me how long is the training and how long is the wait time for IOE? do they usually tell you at the end of the training or weeks ahead when my IOE will be, or will it be just a waiting game for a phone call and I have to be ready to go when they call me? Thanks a lot! |
it will be just a waiting game for a phone call and you have to be ready to go when they call

Just got a msg from skywest about a potential CRJ date this month....So definitely late notice. Can anyone shed light on how senior IAH is for the CRJ? And any feel for how much flying you are seeing on the CRJ side out of IAH? I don't mind sitting reserve for however long, my main focus is to get IAH as base ASAP....So picking b/w the CRJ Skywet or E175 @ Mesa.

IAH is very senior CRJ side of things, as is DFW. DFW has quite a bit more CRJ flying than IAH and is a bigger base so chance of getting DFW are higher. But Many, many people bid for IAH and DFW every month so I wouldn't count on getting either of those right of training.

A quick look at the standing bid list shows a dozen or so wanting to transfer to IAH and 30 or so wanting DFW. Reserve staffing in DFW is much better than IAH. Staffing in IAH is at 24 and DFW 80+. Since upgrades happen at 1000 hours, many of those pilots will probably upgrade later this year creating openings. A number will probably move on to other airlines as well. Wild guess is a couple month wait after IOE to get based where you want. Currently ORD and SLC seemed understaffed with no reserve lines next month according to the PBS Bid Info page (DFW had 20 reserve lines and IAH 2).
If considering Mesa, you really need to look beyond the pay rates. Work rules are where the money is at. |
How often are the bid cycles? And after a bid cycle, how long until I get awarded the transfer?
In other words, if I don’t get the base I want, how long would I have to wait to try again for it? |
