Skywest offer

Can someone tell me a bit about QOL for commuting from Charlotte?
Id been preparing to start training with republic before then end of the year. After months of waiting I got an offer from SkyWest.
I’m just not sure how daunting the commute would be.

Depends on the base. Skywest has many.

See map. Others will know better. I wouldn’t obsess over “most junior” so long as you can hold a base within six months to a year.

Also, my observation has been that commuting between one airlines hub and another airlines hub often works pretty well. Single airline hub to hub (eg clt to dfw) can be messy

Look at the dates posted in the link above for the aircraft you prefer. It's accurate and updated monthly. Just keep in mind that it will very likely change by the time you finish training. It continually ebbs and flows.

Is SkyWest still metering to the legacy's?

It’s never been a declared policy. Will probably be hard to know when it stops.

You go to a wholly owned and you'll instantly become more attractive to the other two Legacies. Unless LCC's are your end-goal. In which case, SKW would be a solid stepping-stone.

For commuters, a 4-day trip could easily turn into 6 days. The stress of wondering if you'll make your scheduled work flight will result in you taking an earlier flight. Plan on a day at the start and end!
