Skywest pilots and uniform policy
Do you have to wear the hat? At all? I ask b/c at ASA they are cracking down on the uniform policy, which includes the hat when the jacket is to be worn (Nov-Feb or Mar, I think). And I've heard rumors that you don't have to have it as part of your uniform.

I'm a fo at skyw and I don't own a hat, hope that answers your question.
I have been thinking about getting one and letting the hair grow but you get laughed out of the crew room in slc for wearing a hat, and as I am an FO I CRAVE acceptance among my peers.

Minus the backpack of course! Nothing ****es me off more than watching some alleged "professional airline pilot" wearing that big backpack through the terminal. And we wonder why the public and management doesn't take us seriously!

Honestly I think the hat, especially for the reginal pilots that wear the generic uniform factory ones, does more damage to our image around the terminal than does good.

Three years ago, I say a Southwest pilot and a Skywest pilot with hat on. I thought to myself, the Southwest FO just got hired and the Skywest Captain probably just upgraded. It's a rare sight to see a Skywest or Southwest guy in a hat. For the longest time I didn't even know that Southwest had hats
