AA benefits indeed take 6 months from hire. I can't remember the details on Alaska benefits but I believe they only apply to Skywest operated Alaska flights, which is a pretty small route network. Fortunately UA and DL fly almost everywhere.

Thank you... But you don't want to hear my thoughts on commuting to reserve and not getting a single call to fly, as is happening to me and a bunch of other guys. I joined to fly airplanes, not sit in a hotel room 19 days/month without flying. I have no idea how guys commute to reserve over the long term. The only flying I've done after training has been flying I've picked up on my off days by calling and asking to have it added. Definitely not a happy camper right now...

Where are you based that you're on reserve for so long? I thought after a couple months you can hold a line, depending where you are based. How many months have you been on reserve?

Should have gone to Compass or PSA or even TSA, you would be a line holder by now or flying your butt of on reserve. Never go to a regional with a long upgrade and a bunch of lifers, I have made that mistake before. I am half kindding of course, go where you want but don't complain about commuting to reserve after only a few months. Some of us have done that for years and years. Good luck, its not too late to bail out of there. SKW is a good place to work but if I was a young CFI that just hit ATP mins there is no way I would touch that place if I had any career aspirations beyond the regionals.

Lots of people have made been in this situation including myself, if you are on reserve and commute no matter the distance by air get a crashpad. Unless I misunderstood and the hotel is your pad.
