Typically they do because the partner such as uniteds cut is smaller, so it's more profitable. I think they'll phase that out to staff contract flying tho. It can be brought back at will when staffing improves , contracts can't.

I'm not at liberty to say, but if an "old" EMB route is still being flown but on a CRJ2, you can almost bet its still an at-risk route.
