I'm in the last bro class and on reserve in fat. They're still offering time off without pay which I'm currently taking advantage of. Other than that I'm currently flying about 25 hrs a month average with a great schedule. Since IOE, Ive moved up 35 spots in seniority which will help once we start hiring again.

Thanks, Jbravo! How is the unpaid time off working if you're still flying and taking advantage of the time off? I thought you were just removed from the schedule for the bid month, then put back on next bid unless you extended and it was still being offered.

By the way, are there any junior guys out there who were the last in the training class before the music stopped? I'd love to hear what kind of schedules you're holding. If it's reserves, are you getting many hours or is it still not much to pass around with the excess staffing? If I were in your shoes, taking the voluntary time off that my friend told me was offered sounds pretty good if you don't need the money
When I was on reserve I was averaging 10-15 hours a month and rarely ever had an overnight that wasn't a TDY. I've heard similar things from people junior to me.

I bid for my schedule every month and only take about 4 days off at a time between my days off which makes a nice week off at the beach.

Time-off no pay isn't for a bidding period. You just put in a request for days off like you would for vacation time except you just note to CS that you want no pay, and they award it without using up your user/vacation. Sounds like Bro reserve has less amounts of work. RJ reserve depends on domicile but if your at the bottom of list probably anywhere from 30-75+ hrs. If your at the top of reserve bucket, well then its anywhere from 0-80 hrs.

So is crew scheduling good about distributing the hours fairly equally between all the reserves who want it or is it hit or miss for you guys? Any one have any particularly bad or good stories?

There's an option for us to choose call first or don't call first. (Of course it's seniority based). Also lately they have been farming out a lot of the flying to guys who are still trying to get ATP mins, kind of sucks for us who already have the requirements met...hopefully the shennanigans will be done come August and things will go back to normal. Keep in mind I am VERY junior.

I have been lucky as a 08 hire that I haven't spent more than a few months on reserve. But reserve at Skywest is a completely different company than those that are line holders.
