Benefits on the 175, there's rumors of us swapping 900s for 175s for delta but it's only rumors so I wouldn't count on it if you need them. You can still jumpseat if that helps. 175 has lots of movement in OrD, it is actually going more junior than crj because people don't want to transition and upgrade in one event so they hold out for their
Current equipment which is most often than not the crj. It's about 2-3 month difference right now. If you don't care what you fly I'd go 175 in a heartbeat, much nicer
Plane to fly, better pay and better schedule in my
Opinion
Thanks SquallRider. I guess it all comes down to bases as well. I initially was keen on IAH but no 175´s there.

700 and 900 only at IAH which is a blessing I guess as well. At the end of the day Im not really that fussed on which aircraft I fly especially when it comes to lifestyle.

I mean getting the base of your choosing, driving to work, no commuting etc surely have to be worth it even if it means getting an aircraft that might no be as nice.

Also the Delta benefits things is a big deal so looks like you just talked me into a CRJ. At the end of the day there probably is not that much difference between the aircraft.

Of course over the next 2 years there will probably also be a lot of movement to ERJ and MRJ with regards to fleet upgrade and so forth.

Ya never know....

So if Alaska has no scope issues, then why does it matter if other airlines do? The only airline that cared was delta and that is no longer the case.

Hey Egg,

Just putting my 2 cents in here...take the CRJ to start! Here's why I recommend it:

-First and foremost if you want IAH this is your bird. Also, it's all 700/900 flying. I am junior but have managed to pickup/trade for a large portion of 700/900 trips. This plane is awesome! It's quirky sure, but it flies like a real jet and is, IMO, the nicest plane I've ever flown.

-If you want to bid to 175 later you can. And you will have the wealth/knowledge/experience and the CRJ type rating. It is something you'll treasure for your career (minus the pay that goes with it, but that's another matter).

-Seniority. This is huge. I would guess MOST 175 new hires can expect to be on reserve for a very long time. If we get Delta benefits on the 175 you will get pushed down even further.

I personally would bid about 55% in ORD, whereas I bid about 75% on the CRJ. Eventually I will make the move, but patience is key! Don't rush it and enjoy the stage of your career you're in. You won't go wrong!

Good luck, and welcome to SkyWest!

Hey Crazy Canuck thanks very much man. I really appreciate the advice.

I agree patients is key and there will be fleet upgrades anyway. Besides I heard the CRJ is some good hands on flying, not so automated.

I'm keen on IAH and lifestyle is more important to me than aircraft type. A jets a jet...

Another question, why don't 175 pilots get Delta benefits anyway and how long or how likely is they eventually will?

Because at this point there is no way they could ever fly a Delta Connection flight.

Can you explain what "dominant 4days" and "it's high around 90% pairings" means for us dumb military guys? I'm thinking about applying and I would want the 175 based at ORD. any other pitfalls?

QUOTE=Squallrider;1880199]We have some short legs out of ORD to STL, DTW and MSP, rest are 2 plus hours, good mix. If anything I'd say the problem with 175 out of ORD is the dominant 4 days, it's high around 90% of pairings...not everyone's favorite[/QUOTE]

One other question.... What are the "Delta benefits"? Does your family fly for free or something?
