Skywest Pilot Job Fair, What to expect?

I am planning to attend an upcoming Skywest Pilot Job fair and I am wondering what to expect. Will they be conducting interviews, or will they be pre-screening and scheduling interviews for a later date? I have never attended a pilot job fair, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is this a Skywest only event or like a FltOps fair or something? And where is it?

Thanks!

ps. I don't meet the mins, but would it be beneficial to stop by (if it's close) to say hello and talk with the recruiters?

It is Skywest only, and they have several scheduled at various locations over the next month or so. They are listed on careers section on Skywest website. I am short of the ME requirement, so I am wondering if attending would be a waste of my time.

MY opinion is no. Recruiters tend to forget people who don't have the minimum requirements (MY personal expierence as an A&P mech). But that is strictly my opinion.

What's your current totals and how long will it take you to gain the mins?

Does anyone know what time they start in MEM on the 27th?

It says on the website "There will be two opportunities to attend the SkyWest Briefing. Doors will close promptly at 10:00am and 3:00pm."

Do they mean start at 10am and go to 3pm or are there two separate times?

Also it says "You are required to have an online application filled out prior to attending a Group Interviews" but do you have to RVSP to someone or can you just show up?

Thanks

I have 1900 TT, but only 57 ME. I would have to spend quite a few $$ if I want get up to 100 ME anytime soon. Do you think with my low multi time, they would talk with me?

I hate to be discouraging, but while I'm sure they would absolutely talk to you, they'd probably say something along the lines of "come back when you meet the minimums." I had 3 internal recommendations last year but I was like 10 hours shy on the instrument time and didn't get a call until I got it. I know guys who have interned for the chief pilot or already work for the company as a ramper who still had to meet the bare published minimums of 1000/100. In my experience they haven't been one to budge from those for anyone. However, YMMV and it can't hurt to try.

Do they ask interview questions ETC at these job fairs? or is it just kind of a meet and greet with your resume?

dodgerk 04-16-2012 05:42 PM

I went when I was short on TT. I got a couple of business cards from the recruiters with phone numbers. As soon as I got the time and put my app in I called them. I was called the next morning for an interview. This was over 4 years ago but I think it was worth it.
