Hello,

Today we are announcing that early next year we will be taking over operations of a maintenance base in Fort Wayne, Indiana (FWA). The FWA base is currently operated by Endeavor Air and will transition to SkyWest effective Feb. 1, 2015. We are working with the People Department and will be sending out representatives to meet with current employees and hope that many of them will choose to work at SkyWest. You will start to see postings for open positions in FWA as early as today.

We expect that the new FWA base will handle up to four overnight CRJ200s for our Delta system. The base is in a location geographically that further supports our fleet, and provides us these additional overnights and increased touch time with our aircraft.

I know that we have a lot happening in our department right now and appreciate the hard work you are doing to take care of our fleet.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have concerning this new base.

Thanks,

Something big is in the works. I think SKW is playing hard ball in the regional game.

SkyWest taking over Endeavor Air FWA MX base.

I don't know if I'd call taking more Delta 200s "big"

Or SKYW could be just taking 9E 200s and there is already an established MX base with properly trained folks at a station where those 200s will be deployed...

They already have a maintenance base in South Bend. I couldn't see 12 more 200's needing another maintenance base.

You know who else had a MX base in South Bend up until just a few years ago?

Pinnacle

At one time pinnacle also had 3200 pilots too, but that's what happens when delta calls the shots.

well, since wisconsin isn't getting those 200's from DL anymore, it appears SKW will be getting more than the originally announced 12. SKW peeps, if this indeed happens, DTW base not too far off?

If we do get more, DTW base looks likley. They say 70 newhires a month now. Last time we did that in 2005-7. Updgrade on the EmB 120 went to newhires and RJ 2 years..... Right now its 6-7? But we did'nt hire for a few years. So it will drop past that gap here in a few months...
