Default SkyWest training timeline

What's the timeline for the training process looking like currently? From the initial job offer to starting IOE, including delays between phases, how long can one expect it to take? I hope to get in and start flying as quickly as possible to build some recent experience, but last fall folks were talking about significant training delays for SkyWest.

There's also an accelerated course for CL65 typed pilots if anyone can chime in on the phases and timelines for this.

From interview to class start can be a fast as you want it. They are running two CRJ classes per month now. The ground portion is a month followed by two weeks of sims. There have been training delays between ground and sim by as much as 6 weeks but it's getting better for now. It all depends on your senority in the class and how you bid for your sims.

The short course is two weeks I believe. Then to sims.

Sims for the crj are being held in SLC/CVG/ATL/STL.

Great info. Thank you. How does SkyWest determine seniority in a class? What's the commute like between SLC and MSP or ORD? How long might it take to get SLC as a domicile? Sorry for so many questions! Just trying to make informed decisions on who to work for and where to live.

Can't speak for ORD but SLC to MSP you will be in the jumpseat a lot.

Just make sure you pay close attention to AK on day one as he tells you you're better than anyone at other regionals. Just say what you need to say.

Define "getting better"...

Weeks of paid time off w/ travel benefits is generally considered "good". Less paid time off is not really "better". Unless you're a weaker student and don't want the white space, in which case they would probably accommodate you if you ask.

I've got a question on this too. I have something that falls a little over a week after the end of the scheduled class end date that I can not miss (My Wedding). Wondering if I should wait or take a chance. Only answers I've gotten from the SkyWest folks is that it will just come down to your seniority when you bid for Sims.

Seniority is based on SSN. Currently told (For the March 23rd class) that they are expecting 30 slots on the sims the day after training in SLC. It would be another 2-3 weeks if you are displaced to any of the other airports for sims.

Good to know, I have a March 23rd class date myself. I guess it also depends on the size of the class since they've been hoping to recruit 100 / month and been unable to fulfill that quota. 30 slots a day after training in SLC seems like quite a bit fortunately.
