MCO base seniority

Hey all,
Just a quick question. How long would it likely take a new hire to hold MCO as a base??

Took a buddy of mine just under a year. Orlando is the second most senior base right now. Your mileage my vary.

Currently the jr mco pilot is 133 numbers senior to the most jr pilot system wide. He got in on his 4'th month of bidding.

I'd say to be safe you can plan on 6 months but you would be able to hold BWI, MDW, or HOU in the meantime which are all a easy 1 leg commute away.

Was super senior when I was hired 14 months ago then for 2 months last spring junior guys were able to get it. I was off reserve in my base and wasn't willing to go back to it so guys junior to me picked it up. Then the door closed for about 8 months, no FO got in with less than a couple years seniority. Last month they added a bunch of slots and junior guys got in again. Will be interesting to see if it shuts off again and stagnates or if some movement continues.

Keep in mind if you do get MCO you will be on reserve for a very long time

Any idea how long to hold DAL?

Bunch of guys from the Dec 5 class got DAL in right away. That was the last class to find out where they were based. Im in the Jan 17 class and we and the Jan 10 class will find out tomorrow where we will be based off the April Vacancy.

New vacancy will be out in a few hours. I'll post what NHs got. For those that can't see it the April vacancy numbers are:

ATL 4
BWI 11
DAL -4
DEN 3
HOU 0
LAS 5
MCO 2
MDW 16
OAK 3
PHX -5

Okay for April NHs got this:

14 got BWI
12 got MDW
29 got OAK

No other bases were awarded to NHs. So as you can see from the original vacancy, where you get based right out of training has a lot to do with luck. More specifically, where the vacancy openings happen to fall for that particular month.

For example, BWI is a senior FO domicile but because there were 11 openings on this vacancy, a bunch of NHs were able to hold it.

Thanks for the info. Starting class soon. Hopefully DAL will be a short wait.
