Think about this
There have been airlines that were named after the part of the country they were the dominate carrier. Remember Northeast, National, Eastern, Southern, Western, North West, Texas International, New York Air, Midwest, Pacific Southwest, Allegheny, Piedmont, Empire and Air Florida. All those have merged and changed their name.
So, when Southwest merges with Hawaiian, they will become a true major airline they can change the name to USAir.
