1700 TFP indeed! Remember to back out vacation overlap, training events, and paid sick leave use and your blocking around 750-800 hrs in 365. As a 17yr capt vacation overlap for four weeks was almost a months pay! The beauty of SWA is if you live in base and want to bulk up the paycheck one can run down to PVR or CUN in the morning and be back before rush hour traffic in the afternoon. That would be for a HOU guy. Other bases have similar trips. I did 1678 TFP in 2016 at topped out rate, 218.25$ per trip. Hard to find another narrow body operator where you can make your own paycheck like here. We definetly work harder for our beanies but I would rather be in the cockpit that a terminal reading a book waiting for a late aircraft. Different strokes!

We didn't get to that rate until late in the year with the new contract, so your rate for 2016 was essentially $189.78/tfp. Also, for you to get paid for 1678 tfp in a year you either have to have some seniority in your seat to work the system or work 20+ days a month for it. Let's not mislead the junior folks getting hired that they can do that kind of pay credit in their first couple of years unless they're willing to work a lot. That's 140 tfp average a month which if you have little seniority means you'll be gone from home quite a bit.

140 TFP means one premium 3-day, or on reserve schedule under the new rules... That's working 15-17 days/month. Not unachievable by any means even for junior folk...

The question is, even if I could get a premium 3 day, where do I put it in my schedule? Unless I make a conscious effort to bid off the last week of the month and the first week of the following month, I generally hold a rotation consisting of either 3 on 4 off, or 4 on 3 off. That means there is no place to put the premium 3 day.

I know a certain FO who frequent this forum who is able to do stuff like this, but he has Ninja skills with CWA. Us mere mortals don't have that kind of mojo.

Zap, it may require Beverly Hills Ninja skills, but certainly no ninja skills..

I move my schedule in ELITT to weekdays right when it opens and free up weekends as that's when junior guys like me can score premium. It takes basically working one weekend.

Alternatively, a 2-day and a turn here and there will get you there.

Certainly helps living in base.

Whack,

Certainly not trying to MISLEAD anyone! And yes if your willing to hustle you can pull in 120 to even 140 TFP on second year pay. As far as the old rate of 189.78$ the bonus took care of some of that. So using current 2017 numbers I'm on track to average 138TFP through June. If that continues through the end of the year with the Sept raise that puts a topped out (narrow body) 737 capts hard pay at SWA 364,089$ for the year. I had 15 days off in May and 15 in april with Vac this month. Just some perspective for a young guy to think about for his future.

Now for a new hire. Unless he lives in the bay area, yes he'll suck wind until he gets to his second year, off reserve, and is able to move his trips around. True. So I took a gander at some FOs I flew with recently that were high time fliers. 123XXX. 126.82 for June, 129.60 for May. Hire date 8/2016. Second guy 120XXX 118.28 for June, 121.32 for May. Hire date 5/2016. Both live in base and both had a turn and two day premium for each month. In Sept their rate will bump to just over 100$ a trip. If they continue to average 120TFP to include a training event and vacation time they would earn 144,375$

Again, SW runs lean on pilot head count thus all the overtime. If you want to write your paycheck here, you can! The only other places I can see making more are the top shelf box haulers. Plus here, you don't have to wear a hat.....

BTW.....I was right there holding a sign at the DAL info picket. No lost LUV here!!

Default Date Schedule Recieved

When do you receive your schedule for each month? Is it far enough in advance? Are you able to make changes?

We bid for the next month between the 4th and 9th. Lines are posted by the 11th. Blank lines are posted after second round bidding later in the month. Pilots are able to put trips in giveaway/trade once schedules are posted.

On the 25th, the company opens Line Improvement Trip Trade for the next month; pilots can move/trade trips with the company. This remains open for the bidding month.
