Training hotel question....
Will we have to vacate the rooms at the hotel during our days off while in training, or do we keep the same room for the two months straight?
Thanks in advance

When I went through training in January, they told us to not check out, even if we had several days off. It makes things easier for all parties. The room is booked for 2 months straight.

They'd prefer you never leave, we were told this multiple times during training that they want you to "stay focused" by not going home. Another thing was that we had training on many Saturday's seriously limiting the opportunities to get home. While I'm not complaining, I wish they were more upfront about this before class started. I was expecting a more laid back training schedule similar to competing airlines.

This is the polar opposite of my experience a few years ago. We were encouraged to "sharpen the saw" by going home on weekends (we did work one Saturday, which happened to be July 4th weekend) and as long as we showed up on Monday ready to go were treated like the adults we were. Sorry to hear that mentality has changed.

Don't forget to sign up for whatever points are available. For example, the hotel I stayed in gave points for food purchases and if they didn't have to clean your room. I got a few free nights later on during my commute.

Keep the same room throughout training, definitely sign up for points, and tell them they don't need to clean it every day.
There's gonna be some changes in training in the very near future. I don't know if they're starting AQP with newhires yet, but I do know that if you're typed, you'll have a breeze of a time in training. Also, I think newhires starting this month or next month are not gonna be trained in Classic. Maybe someone can give us updated info.
I went home just about every weekend. One thing to remember, you'll need at least 4 jumpseat legs before going to the sim, what better way to get those than going home?

I went through training recently (April, May). No need to stress about going home at all. As said above, you need to do jumpseat observations. I went home every time I had more than 1 day off and never felt pressure or discouragement from anyone. On top of that, training is long and not really that hard. There's a lot of downtime, especially if you come from another 121 carrier. Take it easy, relax, go home on days off, you're gonna be fine. Enjoy it...

Speaking of training, can any of you guys that have been there perhaps elaborate on a typical schedule?
How long is the ground school portion before sims start and then what is the typical schedule with those?
Business casual for the dress code on the first day?
Thanks for any insight.
