First year pay

In the first year I know if I get JA'ed or pick up open time I get second year pay plus premium etc. if I bid premium.

Do I get second year pay if I pick up trips in Trip trade giveaway?

Thanks

No. Only extra time picked up from the company. And only that time that is above your original line award.

Your open time bid does not have to be a premium bid to get 2nd year pay. A straight time award will also. And at your seniority you'll have better odds getting the trip on a straight bid.

First year pay

Also look at MOT and the rules associated with that. You can pick up multiple days on some fairly easy trips with deadheads and even ELITT into more days at second year pay. Most guys out of their probie year don't even consider MOT since it all pays straight. YMMV based on your flying habits, but I found it a useful tool for a few months anyway.

Hi, didn't want to start a new thread and I'm not seeing it addressed in any other threads....what bases are most Jr/senior for SWA?

The last two classes got OAK and BWI for the August vacancy.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. The flying part is easy, trying to figure out all these little details is the hard part.

:)

Yup. Keep in mind, if there's a what looks like good trip in open time that nobody is bidding on, it's probably not as good as it seems. A long deadhead on the back end that you think you'll get released from has a good chance that you'll end up operating. But as a junior guy, those are sometimes the only 2nd year trips you can get.

BWI Hub

If BWI is your hub, will your trips mostly start at BWI or do many also start in DCA or IAD?
