Log dual received as sic and make a note that that is what you are doing so that your sic + pic = total time. Do the same for any other logged time if you were military and not the pic. Instructor time will be added up as pic time. So, again, all pic + sic = tt

4 year degree? Check airman?

also, under aeronautical rating, should we be checking both "commercial with instrument" and "ATP Certificate" boxes or just the ATP cert. box if we have an unrestricted ATP?

Wouldn't it be helpful if this information was actually available on the PC website? How does one come to the conclusion that dual received can be logged as SIC on their own. Unbelievable.

AA Pilot Credentials (under Q & A) has a note that very specifically says to count Dual Received as SIC ("SIC (Second In Command) = Any time you acted as second in command and/or didn't sign for the plane.
This DOES include dual/student time.")

SWA doesn't have the same note, but I applied the AA rule and noted on the app that my SIC included Dual Received. Seems reasonable unless there's other guidance out there... of course, I haven't been called by SWA, so I'm not an authority. I believe I saw this addressed a while back and someone more authoritative than me recommended to use AA's guidance for all the Pilot Credential sites.

Why wouldn't it? Pic and sic equals TT on the site. Then at the interview break down the hours to match TT.

That's what I did. No questions about it at the interview. Hired BTW.

It's interesting to look at the hiring philosophies of each airline. Curious as to why they are as such?

It seems that SWA still values plain ole' experience....lots of TPIC and gobs of total time (8000-10000 for civies). I would probably lump FDX and UPS into this lot as well.

UA and DL seem to hire a lot more civilians in the 3-5000 TT range with sometimes little to no PIC. Seems like those that get through are heavily networked. I.E., UA's CP meet & greets and DL's internal referral system. Good ole' boy club still in tact maybe?

Not too sure about AA's hiring philosophy as it seems most of their hires are coming through their regional feed. From what I take, most of their off the street hires are mil.

Either way, should be an interesting 2018. Happy New Year everyone!
