Happy New Year!
Southwest Airlines Announces Bonuses, New Investment « CBS Dallas / Fort Worth
While I feel some IT improvements would be a better investment, I’ll take $1000. Great news for a lot of folks at SWA.

I’m appreciative of the 1K for sure and am also happy to have an accelerated MAX8 delivery schedule, but how does the MAX7 deferral effect the net growth on airplanes?

Good for you at SWA! That’s a nice gift. I found the MAX 7 deferral interesting too. Wonder about the thinking behind it if it is touted to be such an awesome airplane... Things that make you go hmmmmmm?
Regardless of your political affiliation and leanings, plenty of SWA employees should be thanking Trump for this gift... Doubt any thanks will be forthcoming...

Everyone is up-gauging these days, David. When it comes to purchasing new aircraft, it's apparently better to purchase 175 seats instead of 149. The Max7 is the new 737-600 (i.e. Boeing will end up building very few of them.)
I know we're still taking on some used -700s, but that is probably only because we can get them for fire-sale prices these days.

Boeing is making a huge deal about the CSeries hurting the prospects of the MAX 7 and yet only SWA and I believe Westjet have ordered it.... Again, how is the CSeries hurting Boeing if the MAX 7 is not selling big to its primary 737 customers? Upguaging may be one reason - and you can’t blame Bombardier for that trend. But that’s another topic for discussion...

%#ck Boeing. They’ve gotten too big for their britches and insist on the world buying the Jurassic Jet (B737). I’d LOVE it if SWA placed an order for 500 CS300s to replace our 500 -700s and tell Boeing to shove it. Not gonna happen though.
