It’s pretty unbeatable, but you do have to stay on top of the billing departments at the docs.

Health care is avail immediately.
Several plans to choose from, best PPO plan is about $360/month family coverage. Dental and eye plans avail as well.
Many (like me) are on the Regular plan, which is free.

Second year on the regular plan/tricare Select. It has saved me thousands in premiums and copays. Balance that against the $600/yr that I would have gotten back by not taking insurance and it is a no brainer.
Yes, having two insurers requires a little babysitting and UHC can be obstinate, but spending a few minutes a month monitoring things is well worth the price and choices that we have.

Yes. The company will pay you $50/mo (taxable) to decline health insurance completely. You can also add on individual dental and vision plans with that option.
However, they also have a $0 premium plan called the Regular Plan that works great in tandem with your govt health plan and includes dental and vision. Do some searches. I know I have posted on what a bargain this is compared to the measly $50/mo that you get for declining insurance.
A zero premium health plan with a low out of pocket max is a HUGE Southwest benefit that doesn’t often get mentioned.

I have the Regular Plan for me and the family. It’s a $0 premium. We have already met the deductible for the year because my wife has a major health issue. Everything is free now... even most of her prescriptions. Regular plan... can’t beat it.

With two insurance coverages (Regular Plan and Tricare Select) how does it work if you reach the yearly cap on the Regular Plan? Are you then responsible for the Tricare cap? Sounds like one could get screwed under certain circumstances.
