Latest Application Window

Now that the latest application window has closed (on 3/20) I'm wondering when the lucky ones will hear about an interview. This is my first time applying with Southwest and I'm not sure how long it may take to hear something.

I know many of you have been trying to get on at SWA for a long time, and I really hope you get an invite in this window.

Thanks!

Wilfortina 03-24-2019 06:28 PM

Also interested! Same situation

Timmay202 03-24-2019 06:43 PM

Haven’t heard of anyone else from the non expo opening yet. RST SWA on the book of faces also has a thread on this, if you want to tie in to that as well. My speculation is they’re still working through the expo dudes, though the keyword there is speculation.

It took me about 16 months and 4 application windows.

That's almost what I had before I made it on. Still competitive I guess

On my eighth window, two expos. Lots of good military and 121 talent to wade through before I get looked at.

You keep thinking that 😳. I would be looking for a plan B right about now.

For sure. They’ll raise the retirement age, and you’ll b here at least 30 years!

Uptair 03-28-2019 06:09 PM

2 windows, 1 expo, in class less than 4 months from the time I submitted my first application. I got very lucky but also did everything I could to get the job. Interview prep, 12 internal letters, 5 other letters, etc. Good luck guys, been awesome this far!

Rumors are people are getting invites from the last window. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Also, does anyone know if all invitations go out at once, or if they come in waves as interview dates become available?

Thanks!

That’s checks, I’ve seen at least one dude post on the RST SWA Facebook page that he received the invite and was not an Expo attendee. So they’ve started. As to the timing, I don’t know believe it’s a shotgun blast. My buddy in my squadron attended the Expo and received his invite a few weeks after they initially started sending them out. Hang tough bud, there’s still a chance...I’m right there with you, cheers!

Interview

I interviewed on June 11/2019. Think it went well! Don’t give up!

Congrats.

How was your LOI?

When is your DB?

LOI was interesting. Aviation interviews pretty much sums it up in their website. I truly feel like they want you to succeed. I said a few things in the interview hr/panel interview that weren’t the worst answers but I definitely could have answered legitimately better :). Time will tell. :) sry what do you mean DB?

at6d 06-16-2019 07:38 PM

Decision Board.

If they are calling your references, it’s a good sign.

Yes, that’s what I meant.

Refs called, or drug screen requested [pretty much] means you passed the interview. It’s now time to check for ‘skeletons in the closet’. Everyone in my interview group that first had received the drug screen request or the refs being called, had the other happen next within a day or two.

Best of luck!

Oh sorry, my DB is this upcoming Wed (6/26). They called 2/3 of my internal references, 1 external reference (a captain from old position that was in the base I managed), and drug tested me. Hoping for that call! lol loved every minute of this experience, and the wait is much harder than the interview! :)

Dashbro 06-21-2019 08:24 AM

Anybody know how long CJO to class date is these days?

Pilots from my interview group had a DB on 4/24 and classes of 6/11 or 7/9 to start.

Understand.

Sounds like a positive trend in your case. Best of luck!

Interesting...drug testing before a CJO usually means that the projected time between a CJO and class date is short.

That happened with me, and I was given the option for a class with less than 2week notice from CJO. Happened quick!

Happened to me too and mine is 2.5 months from CJO to class.

Got the call!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement on here the past 2 weeks. Got the call today to come aboard :). I don’t know if it made a difference on getting invited to interview, but I updated my pilot credentials almost every night after I flew. A pilot told me it keeps bumping your app to the top. It could be coincidence and maybe not. I recommend it though!

Could anyone put me in touch with any former JetBlue pilots who now work for Southwest? I hear there are some.

Asking for a friend...:)
