Time to ATL

How long does it take for an FO to hold ATL currently?

The time will probably keep coming down, but most recently, a January 2018 hire was just awarded ATL for the June 2019 bid.

Revised times as of May 9, 2019:

ATL FO: 12 years
Upgrade time: 15 years (only in OAK)
Time to leave OAK as captain: 22 years
Time to get off reserve as captain: 25 years

Now... if we buy JetBlue, expect these numbers to go up because we like to keep the pilots, but send the acquired airplanes to competitors.

:p

Not really but someone else might then make a uninformed decision

It was a tad confusing for a newb outsider, but I ultimately decided it was a joke that I just didn't get and I could reasonably rely on the first response as the most accurate one.

It was told to me by Mike VdV (#3) from the top I believe, that I would be able to hold Atlanta within a year. This was at the new hire dinner and at the time, I was being told 10 years by friends to hold Atlanta. This was true, but it has since gone super junior. It took me exactly 10months to hold Atlanta since I was hired in 2017. New guys could expect at least a year to hold. My first month in Atlanta I held a blank line, now I can get a line that no one wants and trade and giveaway to improve it to my liking. I’ve been here almost 2 years and I am 86% of the bottom in Atlanta and high 60s to low 70s at other bases. Don’t expect any growth here due to Delta, the MAX crisis, Hawaii, and upgrades to the right seat being a priority. It will be a trickle of vacancies that allow you to get Atlanta, it is not where they dump new hires like OAK and BWI. Once you get it, don’t leave because it could take months to get it back again.
