Lol. Young grasshopper.....2024-2026 is when we’ll eventually be voting on Contract 2020 if it goes anything like the last one. So you might actually be voting on our next contract.

I reached back out with D225 peeps and they told me that you interview to join the program. Once that is done there is no more formal interview process. Once you hit minimums and pass aptitude tests you essentially await decision board and class date. They said D225 graduates will not have to formally interview again. Just food for thought I suppose.

It would probably be faster and less expensive to get to a major by buying your own plane for $20k, hire an instructor and build time. When you get a couple hundred hours start doing some 135 flying and at 1500 hours a regional will hire you. If it’s an AA wholly-owned you’ll have a ml seniority number. When you sell the plane you’ll get a lot of your money back, and you can possibly rent it to an fbo to offset some of the costs. I know at least five people who have done this recently, or are doing this now.

Hire about 150 XJT pilots from IAH who'd gladly work at HOU and you'd cripple United's already rickety feed.
FYI, that's over 10% of the total pilot group (probably more) who are on the line/instructors.
Heck, just hire the training department.
Checkmate.

They have about 70 in the pool last I heard from about 1250 or so active line pilots/instructors.
Good odds huh?

AA and DAL are increasing their hiring. We need to pick it up fast and at pay rates that exceed 73 pay (equal 75/76) and make up for fast upgrades at other carriers to gain and retain pilots or we’re in trouble.
The days of pilots coming here because “fun is more important than pay and qol” are over. Young pilots aren’t in aviation for the passion, it’s all about going where you can build wealth the quickest.

There are people at XJT who have stayed there for different reasons and it obviously isn't the pay.

As I’ve gotten older(closer to retirement), pay and retirement planning has become the primary deciding factor in my career choices. All things being equal, SWA falls behind the others for retirement, IMO. That’s why there are current junior pilots here still applying at and leaving for the other majors.
So I’ll correct one thing, it’s not just younger pilots.
