There are literally thousands of qualified and experienced pilots at the regionals that would KILL for a spot at SWA...

Xojet and swift air, awesome.

If they were really smart about it, XO and Swift should also put a pipeline program on the back end to induce post-65 SWA pilots.

What a ****ing joke Southwest. Thousands of professional, qualified regional pilots and yet you make some zero-to-hero program to get asses in seats at CAE. Embarrassing.

I never understood these programs for the reasons listed above ie ton of candidates that have bled to get to SWA. Is there some tax incentive or something?

Currently cutting my teeth at the regionals, trying to do everything extra curricular to get a call from SWA. It would make me pretty frustrated if some zero to heros makes it there before me.

Make no mistake, this has to do with Contract negotiations coming up. The union and membership has more leverage if attracting a limited supply of qualified pilots is a concern. If the company can tout an eager supply of pilots, then some of that leverage is lost. This is a move to get a yes vote IMO.
