I mean, I get that your guys BLGs are down, but doesn't that mean less work for less money?
Ever hear of cancellation pay? If a storm or computer outage cancels my trip, I still get full pay. No lost income there. Now if it’s an ongoing problem due to negligence resulting in $115M in lost income...

Trip productivity has suffered so not necessarily less work for less money.

The suit is for lost compensation. Period dot. Over 30k flights worth.
The company is seeking compensation for the same reason. The company says they may share the settlement with the employees. I think SWAPAs position is that you cannot take that promise to the bank so they are seeking to ensure their share of the pie.
Whether you agree with it or not, it’s what a union should be doing in order to serve its pilots.

Most employees make the same money regardless of block hours; they are salary or they still clock in and clock out.

Potential flight crew earnings Is dependent on block hours. When block hours go down earnings potential is affected. When it’s due to possible neglect or gross mismanagement, there needs to be recompense.

The company has said they will share recompense with employees, but those directly affected by lost block hours should receive an additional premium.

That’s why.

Exactly. Employees who aren’t directly affected still should get a piece due to lost profit sharing, but their actual paychecks weren’t affected. This is just SWAPA trying to ensure we get what’s ours. It’s unfortunate the media is doing what it always does and sensationalizing it.

Yep. It would seem likely that any compensation SWA ultimately gets from Boeing will be in the form of murky discounts on top of already murky purchase pricing for future aircraft deliveries. Good luck getting our share of that pie.

Is there anywhere that says SWAPA will distribute any funds to the pilots? If they do, after they deduct legal expenses, dues they would’ve gotten from said money, what will be left? And if there is any left, are they going to double dip and take dues money out of the settlement checks after they already took dues money out from the money they get from the lawsuit?

Why the negativity, brah? Our union is doing what a union should do which is vehemently defend and promote the careers of their membership.

Probably best not to admit it on a public forum though....
