I’m not a tech guy but you’d have to bring your own network to stream on which makes this lawsuit over.

Not saying I believe the story but the tech would be easy.
Streaming video cameras are relatively cheap and easy to come by.

Saying the issue is settled because you personally don’t know how to do it is a little childish.

Not exactly, but it would be open to anyone on the plane to connect to it. Yeah, this case will be thrown out in a matter of minutes. These pilot's careers might be another victim of #metoo, however.

Anyone with the appropriate app and the password.

Like I said, I don’t necessarily believe it happened but the very fact that it has been successfully filed enables the plaintiff’s lawyers to depose everyone even remotely connected with it under discovery. That’s a LOT of people. What the plaintiff’s lawyers are alleging is a conspiracy to cover up a crime and that not only the plaintiff but other FAs as well were told to not discuss it. If that alone is confirmed, it looks VERY BAD for the company. If allegations were even made to the company they has a positive duty to inform law enforcement and let an investigation sort out the truth of the matter. If SWA management was aware of the allegations of a federal crime and did not inform the authorities or if they instructed the other FAs to not notify the authorities about a federal crime, someone is in trouble no matter if the actual crime occurred or not.

Also, open for discussion, is the defendants response to the allegations:

I don’t speak lawyerese but it seems less than compelling.

But this is an FA. She’s unlikely to be rich so this is probably being done on a contingency basis, that is, that the law firm gets a cut of the settlement. Clearly the shysters seem to believe they are going to get a payday out of this mess.

In the interim, it’ll give the pax something to ask about other than “is this a MAX?”

This will look way better when it turns out it was a practical joke on the FA.... Really gonna give the public a great perception of pilots...

That would be my guess, coupled with supervisory personnel trying to cover it up to protect the aircrew and the company rep. Which if true, might well end their careers as well.

If the FA had probable cause to believe that a federal crime had been committed (U.S. Code § 2251) and supervisory personnel instructed subordinates to cover it up ‘for the good of the company rep’, that alone is a serious problem.

Arizona is one of approximately 10 States that imposes penalties against any employer who discharges, suspends, disciplines, or engages in any action to prevent or prohibit an employee or volunteer from making a report of suspected child maltreatment as required by the reporting laws.

Even if it was just a joke, it was a profoundly stupid one. A lot of careers and the reputation of the company are on the line here. True or not, this story has now received widespread international attention. Definitely not good for SWA.

It could be done easily, several ways.

But sounds like a joke gone bad to me, FA seems like a real moron.

I could be mixed up on type, maybe it was the 747-200, had 15 years on that one plus the 727, 757, 767, DC-8, DC-3, etc. Too many jokes.
