LAX base

Recent new-hire here looking to move back to SoCal and trying to find out more information about LAX. Being a new base, there doesn't seem to be much on it yet after searching the forums. Can someone shed some light on if it's going junior or senior so far? Do trips all originate out of LAX, or do you cover all the LA area fields? Has it been challenging making reserve callouts with LA traffic? And anything else I'm too new to know I should be asking about would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

I’m not an LAX guy but I can answer some of those. As a year three guy, I could be at 64% among FO’s there. The only base more junior than that is OAK where I’d be 59%. All the trips are out of LAX. Once the max is back the base should grow rapidly, making it even more junior.

A good tool to reference your base seniority is myseniority.com . Log in with your employee number and last name and you can see exactly where you stand in each domicile.

Once the Max comes back, it should grow quite a bit. Rumor says as big as PHX.

LAX is fairly junior, and has great crews. As long as you live within 2 hours under normal Socal traffic you are good to go. We also have free ice cream everyday.

Wait... Free ice cream?!? How did I miss that?

We won a freezer, and they keep it stocked with ice cream. They put it in the office at night though.

A restroom is a lot more useful than a freezer full of ice cream. I like how accessible the LAX lounge is, but the terminal restroom is for the savages.

I'll take the freezer. You can always drop a deuce in the forward lav.

Brother or Sister, welcome aboard!

Don’t move back to SoCal. The taxes and the massive problem with the Unfunded Pension/Retiree Healthcare Mandates are going to wreck the people earning an income in Kalifornia. You’ve garnered a fantastic job that can fund your retirement and your leisure lifestyle. Don’t give it to The Man. Move to Texas, with no State Income taxes. Yes, property taxes can bite you, but still keep more of your money working for you and you’rn. Be a domicile family. Drive to work comfortably. For Midway, avoid Illinois for many of the same reasons; choose Indiana or Wisconsin.
Welcome aboard!

Negative!

That is for emergency dump only!

That thing sits half way into our office after all. Another reason to not do AM's.
