Question Career Takeoff - Worth it?

Checking out options to become more noticeable at SWA HR department.

Has anyone worked with Career Takeoff? Rebekah, (Owner?) gave a presentation at ATP DFW during the CTP course. Believe her experience was from SWA HR, and of course, as a matter of good promotion and marketing, she alleged that her company will "significantly increase your ability to be hired at the airline of your choice."

Just curious if the resume reviews, technical test prep and interview prep is worth the coin.

Thanks for your input!

Yes. About $800 to help secure a multi-million dollar airline career? No brainer.

What kind of experience did you have with them? Do you feel that was a significant part of you getting hired at SWA?

The one-on-one phone call interview prep and the practice run through of all three interviews SWA does the day before my actual interview were invaluable.

I can’t really answer your second question. Would I have gotten the job had I not used them? No idea. I may not have gotten hired if I had different people at SWA interview and ask me different questions that day.

Is it absolutely necessary? Given how laid back the actual interview process is, probably not.

Do I think it was worth my time and money? Without a doubt.

I guess the only word of caution I would offer is this:

SWA is not a fan of interview prep. Depending on who you ask, this runs the gamut from “doesn’t like it — we want to know the real you” all the way to actively hates it and may not hire you if they think you used it. Pilot hiring is under new leadership and the person now in charge told my group that she didn’t like it (even though she used when she applied).

You may get the question in your interview “did you use interview prep?” I did not. My buddy that morning did. We both got hired.

Have a good answer to that question. And do not hesitate to jettison whatever canned answer your interview prep company gives for any question for your own honest answer.

They asked me in my interview if I had used any prep services. I responded I had for another interview previously a few months before. They didn't seem to care either way, I think they were just asking to see what my response would be. I didn't feel like they were against it at all.

Bottom line, prepare for the interview but don’t spew out canned answers or what you think they want to hear.

I used career takeoff and it helped enormously. I was not asked if I used any prep but I think they probably assumed that I did since I'm prior military.

^^^^This. Ironically Rebekah Krone used to ask this question to Pilot Applicants during the HR Interview and if you answered honestly that you did, you were done. Now, she’s selling the very same prep that she used to tank good Pilots on back in the day. I would have a major issue with giving someone so hypocritical my business. There are plenty of good interview prep services out there that can help you with your Southwest Interview. Rebekah’s is no better than anyone else’s.
