“Rushed”

FAA speak for something accomplished in less than a decade.

this was nothing except a butthurt DAL fed ****ed because the company went to the DC feds. Company was probably scrutinized more because of it.

Funny, that is exactly what Boeing did and look where it got them.

and before you say Boeing self-certified, you may want to research how that actually works.

Oh, and before you say Boeing lied to the FAA, remember where that liar works now...….

WN didn’t sign itself off for ETOPS. The FAA did. After over a year of work.

This has nothing to do with the MAX.

SWA just paid them to come in during the Government shutdown.

"Hey, here is a pile of cash, sign this."

Boeing didn't sign itself off the for the MAX either. But the perception is they did. Now the perception is SWA has been doing the same thing.

Delta Air Lines Inc. postponed until Feb. 7 the debut of four new Airbus SE A220 aircraft because FAA inspectors weren't available to officially add them to the carrier's fleet, the company said. Agency officials had determined the extent of that effort would have exceeded the simple work performed for Southwest, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The Delta postponement came as airline officials explored whether they could find a way to fund the FAA inspectors' work but the carrier ultimately didn't pursue the option because it entailed legal and regulatory questions, a person familiar with the matter said.

Wouldn’t call $3k a pile of cash. YMMV

People are gonna think what they want.

FAA signed off on the MAX after Boeing said it was GTG. They’re both at fault and the FAA is dragging ass now as retribution for making them look stupid (probably). SWA had nothing to do with it.

A Southwest buddy sent me a WSJ article that the above NBC-NY articles quoted. The WSJ article talks about a Southwest jet that "smashed both wingtips" while trying to land in gale-force winds.

Your guys PR department gets some kudos... I would have thought that would have made bigger news.
