Appreciate it... I’m done with luggage works... they weigh as much as an abrams tank and they are ridiculously overpriced... I’d rather give this guy the money..

The Luggageworks is also not the indestructible beast I assumed it to be. Not only did it require damn near daily tightening of every screw on it, the heavy frame on the bottom cracked during handling after I had to check it! That repair wasn't cheap, and was the last one I did to it before selling it.
What did you replace it with? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Replaced it with their plastic frame version and it’s way better. (Non commuter). |

Hey all, bringing back this thread…
I’m a newbie starting training next month. I’m looking for a bag and need advice/recommendations. Was looking at Luggageworx 737, strong bags Vortex, Carpetbag etc. what’s the go to bag. I’m a commuter (yeah I know how miserable it’ll be) so I need a bag that is pretty stout. School me… (let’s keep it politics free) |

School me… (let’s keep it politics free) I’ve had the LuggageWorks and won’t get another. It’s heavy, gets bent too easily, and even the “strong” steel frame got cracked when I had to check it. It rolls nice; that’s about the only plus for me. I’ve been using a StrongBags for six years now, and am very happy with it. |
Never bought a luggage works. I had one of the first if not the first vortex model strongbags for about 10 years - RJs etc. I could’ve gone longer but I figured 10 years was good. The new Vortex 21 the one they sell now, Is way better than the old one. They fixed a lot of the small annoyances from the old version e.g. length (no need to turn sideways in overhead now), handle is better, overall quality is better. I recommend.

Had my LW bag for 8 years and won't buy another one. Frame bends, sharp edges will damage things, heavy, etc etc. Parts get loose and periodically need to be tightened and adjusted. It has worked well and been a faithful companion, but I commute and whatever bag I buy, I am hauling around half the year.
Once this bag dies (probably has a couple years left in it) I will probably get a strongbags. |
I don’t mind my LW bag— comes with a strong discount too. SB was out of stock when I needed mine so that made my decision for me. Id get a strong bags if I had to do it again. Whatever bag you have you likely won’t have forever, so it’s not a final decision.
it’s a decent bag overall, but heavy as lead and a pain in the butt to get into an overhead compartment if you commute. |
Thanks for all the input, it’s an old thread but I wanted to see if people had the same opinion 2 years later. Greatly appreciated!
