Flew with a 59 yr old who is taking VSP and a 62.5 who is not. The 62 guy didn't want to leave $300k+ on the table in sick leave.

Please his ass ain’t calling in sick. If he didn’t use it before he won’t be using it now. He is one of those pilots that this is all he has. Sort of like the 10 plus guys on the swapa board trying to shoot holes through the offer so they can justify staying on. Hell most of them post several times a day!

Spoke to an age 60 cap over a beer last night. He is not taking it, plus has a full sick bank. Said the company has been too good to call in sick.

What a joke! If he has a full bank, or close to it, he's obviously not using it. At 62, if you wanna burn so much sick time, you have to call every other trip and you'll still retire with sick time. He hasn't been calling in sick, so obvious he won't start now. Meanwhile he'll be working full schedule to be paid 21 TFP for 3 years. Obviously he doesn't like sitting at home or can't be around his wife, most likely.

he said he definitely liked the job, a self described workaholic, and doesnt trust the company to not declare a strategic bankruptcy. I enjoyed working with him and it's his decision. It's a new climate for these guys who have been here 25+yrs. Before it was a badge to retire with a full sick bank now not so much but it's their routine and they are too far into it to use all their bank now.
He did mention that this open his eyes to his sick bank and is going to burn it down aggressively.

I would highlight the want-ads passive aggressively in front of him.

Do you really believe we will still furlough with a full schedule for this fall?
