Flight Number Question.

I’m trying to commute tomorrow from SLC to DEN. FlightStats and StaffTraveler show only flight 2117 available leaving at 8:00am. Myidtravel and Southwest.com also show a flight 8806 leaving at 8:50, along with 2117. 8806 appears to have availability. Obviously I trust myidtravel and your website over the other two sources. I’m just double checking 8806 is actually going to fly, what are you guys seeing? Thanks for your help guys.

2117 is oversold. 8806 is wide open

Most likely with the a 4 digit flight number starting with an 8. They've been adding a lot of flights throughout the system lately as we continually reach our limited seating capacity to accommodate passengers. Open time has been populating with tons of turns recently likely for this very reason.

8XXX flights are added segments, usually appearing the day before.
Talked to the station manager at my commute station today. She said they are applying the cap 10 days prior and then adding segments to overbooked flights. They are not staffing the ground for it, though. One extra segment today is an 11:30pm departure with one revenue pax.
Crazy thing is, they cannot put any more people on the plane than capped seats available. So, for instance, if you have two pilots on the Jumpseats but due to families sitting together in rows you have three completely empty rows, they cannot put another single person on the plane. It's frustrating for commuters and nonrevs. The flight attendant Jumpseat also isn't available right now, so flight attendants are at a distinct disadvantage.

...and the FA’s are ****ed that they can’t jumpseat in our cockpits but an offline pilot can. I was confronted about this during my last trip.

Any time I get anything like this, I tell them that they are welcome to apply at careers.southwest.com. I want to be able to flip my trips in open time for sweet VJA every month and work into my 80s, but there is give and take in all our jobs.

If the flight attendants cared about their jumpseaters as a whole their union should act on it. They can negotiate in their contract to have their jumpseat go to them first. Other flight attendant unions have this. They just have to negotiate for it.
