Obviously I’m joking and showing just how stupid it is for a PILOT, a person who is NOTHING more than a heavy machinery operator to claim they know more about public health than a guy who has dedicated 50 years and sacrificed his family life to help improve the health of the US population. A guy that continuing education is more than pushing an arrow on an iPad every quarter. A guy who has worked for right/left and center politicians, and a guy who doesn’t ever ONCE indicate what his party affiliation is.

Get over yourselves, you don’t know **** about what they are dealing with and the over controlling I’m the chief and nobody can tell me otherwise part of you can not stand it. I wouldn’t expect Fauci to tell you how to fly the plane so don’t tell him about how wrong on a virus he is.

Now that is off my chest anyone catch the surf today? I just ventured back out, hit a few sets and knee still holding together. Anyone have an old Westfalia they want to sell? I need a new ride for the beach. Lastly a Mazda Miata is of course a sports car. Every bit as much as a TR6 and we all know the sports car was designed and brought to you by the British and Italians...

If you need a lobotomy or a neutering I could probably manage. I've cut the nuts off enough animals to know my way around the anatomy of most mammals.

that's really it for me. Not fun anymore. Got yelled at. Literally screaming/yelling at me by a sw Capt while walking through an airport for not wearing a mask. I was a paying pax in civies and he had no idea I was anything else until I asked for his employee number. I just don't want to deal with either side of it anymore. Going to enjoy my 5 yr ExTO.

You need to discover the joys of yelling at random people, very therapeutical.
Congratulations on the 5 year EXTO. I'm envious.

Why didn't you have a mask on, civvies or not? Just wear the damn mask FFS. Maybe it would be better to just have law enforcement handing out tickets for not wearing masks, if you can't handle verbal correction for your display of anti-social behavior.

I think the point was missed here. Some people are exempt but he couldnt help but be the mask police. Real police would be appropriate to handle it. Do we really want sw pilots in uniform going around and yelling at pax they know nothing about?

I am pro mask and I approve this message. I am not the cops and don't want to be one.
I took a walk around the airport the other day with my tie and epaulets off to get a cup of coffee. I had an early wake up and was tired. I couldn't figure out why when I said hello to a couple of pilots, they were looking at me like I was from another planet.
Then it dawned on me.
Oops. Mask was in my pocket.

It happens.

Yikes. These kinds above scare me. His world has mask police handing out tickets. Hey, guess what, that mask...it’s like trying to stop a mosquito with a chain link fence. It is not mearly useless, but it is actually dangerous because it gives genuinely vulnerable people a false assurance that they are safe because others around them have their chain link fences on.

Quarantine the vulnerable, the rest get on with life. We have the numbers now, we know what we are dealing with. Non-revisionist history will not deal kindly with how we have handled this.

Not a doctor, but I can sure read the graphs by those who are.

Just imagine all the money to be saved in hospitals and doctors offices and dentists. No masks required cause they don’t work. For 100s of years the medical community has been masking up to stop droplets of water containing particles including viruses that are emitted from the nose and mouth. It was all a scam man, a total scam. No need to mask up for the surgery it’s all a scam.

You like reading graphs? Read these and make sure you read the words attached to the article too by a company that makes its living on doing these types of analysis. If you want to say it’s all a scam and look like a moron that’s fine but for the sake of the economy just mask up...it’s the least you can do.

Maybe I should have hung a snarky smile emoji on it... Not gonna defend or encourage self-appointed mask cops, and it's probably not a good idea to do that in uniform either.

As for real police enforcing mask wear... If people wear their masks then there's no need for any kind of enforcement. Where I live, there was a huge spike in cases plus people kept gathering in specific locations without masks, so the city finally had to hire people to wear yellow vests and hand out citations. The whole thing was stupid but people refused to wear masks, so the mask patrols were the inevitable consequence.

I prefer to just wear the mask so they don't need the mask cops in the first place. Really not sure why some people keep tilting at windmills over this.

Dude. Just wear the mask. The mask cops only show up when the rebels-without-a-clue make a big deal out of it. I don't like the idea of mask cops any more than you do, so I wear the mask. Duh. A mask is the best mask-cop repellent on the market. Put it on your face, and poof no more mask cops. People not wearing masks then whining about the presence of the mask cops are just little whiny children trying to prove their manhood (or whateverhood). Rebel without a clue.

We don’t want cops breaking up riots or policing neighborhoods but writing tickets for no mask is ok.

I think Fauci is a good dude, but when your sole job is the protection of public health it’s a pretty easy call for him. Shut it all down. Done. Easy call. However, not at all practical.

That’s exactly what I was thinking while reading the last few pages lol. You can’t have the police arrest a criminal or patrol the streets because that’s just not cool anymore, but let’s put the beat down on grandpa for the despicable crime of... NO MASK.

I wear the mask when I’m at work because I want my airline to succeed. I wear it when I go into a confined area with other people or if I can’t maintain a distance... we need people to feel comfortable crawling out of their bunker and shopping again. I am not wearing it outside... that’s stupid. This is a matter of common sense, and writing tickets for it is an overreach IMO.

That's basically how China handled it, from what I've read about Wuhan and seen when I was in HKG (got out just before they basically shut down HKG travel). Literally, 'block captains' walking around housing developments enforcing masks/ curfew/ etc. Not advocating that for the US, of course, but that's pretty much the approach China took.

Well if the TSA guys got nothing else to do all day... Could redeploy them, I suppose. JK....

Fauci is a fraud and opportunist. Hes the opposite of compassionate. He has your attention and you're gullible for missing the larger picture.

Spoken like a true clown Bozo.

Guy is solid, does his homework and knows his ****. No doubt. You don’t get to do what he has been doing for that many years and get accolades from people across both sides of the aisle without being spot on. Sure his job is public health and that’s all he cares to talk about. He doesn’t care about the economy at all, not his job. It’s a certain leaders job to gather subject matter experts on the pandemic and the economy and sit down and hammer out a plan to address both the public health and the economy, but we have seen a vacuum in that regard.

Now for the sake of the economy just wear the damned mask, NOBODY like it but most do it because we live in a society and that sometimes means we make sacrifices for the betterment of the common good.

Liberty 07-31-2020 10:20 AM

There's some bad history with Fauci. I think it's possible he's not as great as everyone thinks. However, I don't have the time or interest to research the guy so I don't have a truly educated opinion on the guy. I don't believe guys are heroes just because the system says so. In fact, if he's a darling of the government and media, he's immediately questionable in my opinion.

One thing we know for sure though, he throws like a girl! 😁

No doubt he should have spent some time in the bullpen prior to taking the hill. A 98 MPH heater high and inside would have gotten everyone's attention.

The legacy carriers had poor balance sheets and way too much debt BEFORE this mess even started.

All true, in my opinion. Further, the large expenditure for early outs sounds odd at first blush. But here's the thing. LUV has always thrived on KNOWING the cost of doing business. When the costs are tied down, the revenue can usually be managed. It worked well in the auto industry for a long time.

This is why SW doesn't mind being highly unionized or makes sketchy fuel deals. Costs drive operation. They don't always have to be low, just known.
