Compassion, decency & outright common sense!!
https://news.yahoo.com/mother-2-old-...004625997.html
The mother is supportive of masking, and the kid was barely 2!! What kind of flight attendant behaves this way? How can that FA not understand the negative PR that would bring to the airline when passengers are at a premium?

The problem is that if the kids gets sick, or if another passenger gets sick, they can blame it on the airline for allowing the child to travel without a mask. This could open the airline to multiple lawsuits. This could be disastrous for any airline, and for air travel as a whole.
Enforce the rules that are in place, and if they include 2 year olds having to wear masks, then it is time for parents with small children to drive. It sucks, but since people think that this virus is as bad as the media pretends for it to be, then we need everyone to wear masks.
The election is only a few weeks away, and this will all be over shortly thereafter.

It blows my mind that some of you folks believe this is somehow connected to the election. Israel just instituted another 3 week nationwide lockdown due to a spike in cases... Saudi Arabia says they'll keep borders closed until at least January.. Its a global pandemic affecting almost every nation.
You think the entire world wants to tank their economies to rig our election? Absurd.
This will be over when there are therapeutics that lessen its severity, and when there is a widely distributed and effective vaccine. Then once it's over, the next hurdle is a depression.
As for the mask on the two year old, it's unfortunate but there needs to be a uniformly applied rule. You can't make exceptions because then everyone wants to be excepted. I don't like it either, but it's the world we live in right now. Yes, the optics are awful.

The mask rule for 2 year olds is absurd. The company can come up with whatever rules it likes and if I'm flying with my kid, I'll do my best to keep her mask on her, but if she melts down and starts screaming as two year olds sometimes do, don't think I'm not gonna let everyone else savor that flavor for a little while. Enjoy the high notes, people.
More likely than not though, I just won't go anywhere that requires spending my money on a plane. There's plenty of awesome vacation spots within a 6 hour drive of my house. This is not behavior we want people to learn. Eventually, the virus will subside. How many customers will we have lost back to the automobile because, while it isn't as fast, it sure is way less unpleasant than dealing with TSA and snitch FAs?
Make stupid rules, win stupid prizes. We don't have a problem with people spreading the virus on our planes...we have a problem convincing people to spend their money on our airline.
Flying was already as fun as going to the dentist for a filling, yet somehow our cohearts have found a way to make it worse.

As mentioned above, the optics are terrible at a time when the airlines don’t need anymore negative publicity. One thing is kicking off a plane adults who willfully defy FA instructions, most everyone agrees with that, this should of been handled with care.

The mother was not defying the FA, the child was eating or drinking, maybe kept the mask off a bit longer. She even told the FA she supports masks and the child had just turned 2. So let’s say the child was 23 months old, you think the FA (shameful) would of acted any different? 🤔. She wanted to make a point.

Or...Would've/should've.
Would of, should of means nothing. Other than a wasted "education".

It means this incident can be used as a “teaching” moment. We constantly learn and evolve, while unfortunate, this event hopefully serves to educate, rethink future decision making.
