So 80% tax rate in California now if you go to state parks? Huh??

Back on topic.

Did some seniority crunching comparing the other airline in town. Not going to commute. Based on retirements, zero growth and current percentages Im looking at over 6 more years to upgrade at SW. The other place is less than 4. Alternatively there's also the wide body.

Theres a million ways to crunch the numbers and I can make one or the other more favorable. Really comes down to personal choice, trade offs and some risk taking. 4200 retirements vs 1400.

If I was in my mid-30's now or only had a year or so of seniority, I'd reapply to UAL. But I've started year 7 and it's probably a wash at this point on upgrade time if I went somewhere else (not commuting so would hold out for DEN). Huge pay cut for a few years and then a few bucks more an hour in the left seat. Not worth it for me....I'm gonna ride this train to retirement or the ground....whichever comes first.

The question for me is. If the music stopped today, would I want to be here with about 2000 below me, or at the bottom of the list with another legacy. Plus, I don’t want to go through the hassle of the interview process again, I’m lazy…

I don't blame them. If I were junior at SWA and lived in an AA and SWA base that I haven't been able to hold at SWA for the last two years, I would bail too. Who wouldn't? I wish them all the best.

Anyone know how long it takes to hold DAL as an FO? I'm guessing AA is faster to hold DFW due to the variety of aircraft.

Yep. If I lived in Dallas and have been commuting to the west coast for over a year, I know what I would do.
