Not that you need it. You want as little on your board as possible going into Spring Break.
MOT should be killed. The only time it was a "thing" was during Covid. Hopefully we never to there again. |

This is true if you like to play in the open time market. Not everyone does.

I like that somebody called MOT, Moron Open Time... |
I got to fly a -300 to Victorville when we parked them thanks to an MOT open time award. When we got there, there was a ton a free food at the FBO, then they took us via bachelor party style limo to ONT where the CPs bought dinner and drinks until the wee hours. A few weeks later the company sent a certificate with the airplane number, hours and cycles it had when we retired it, along with one of those keychains made from aircraft skin. It was a really cool experience I never would’ve been able to take part in had I not been browsing MOT.

Prior to 2019, I'd never as much as looked at MOT. With the silent one grounded, closely followed by the c19 nonsense, coupled with the typical dearth of MCO PM open time, I've used it a few times back then. I'd still like to see it go away, which would put more trips into ELITT and more potential for POT. |

I assume you know all the contractual ways out of that solution?
I'm super careful when bidding overlap! |

Self professed overlap expert here.
1. Read the contract. There is a whole section on it. If you know what you are doing, overlap can be very profitable for your pay or time off. 2. Don’t trust anyone here. Most of them have no idea what they are talking about (including me). 3. Anything pulled in the current bid period is paid. Anything in the next period is unpaid. If you get it pulled unpaid, you qualify for otp. You will get an email from SWAPA. Again, see the contract. 5. If you are ever unsure what the company will do and you are bidding overlap, just imagine the worst legal thing they can do and that’s usually it. Every now and then they will surprise you and pull something paid in the current month if their open time inventory is too high in overlap. If I wanted them to pull days, I would generally elitt into overlap days in the current month and then find the most untenable trip possible with conflicting schedules and overnights that are more than 500 or so miles away and bid that. I could pretty much count on dropping 2-3 days a month. 7. Good luck. It’s a fun game to play, but you have to take a L every now and again. It’s how you learn. This definitely needs to be addressed in the next contract. Definitely one of my no-go items. |

I thought I had that going but they found the two trips intersecting in Vegas and transitioned me from the three day at the end of February to the four day at the beginning of March making it a five day. I’ll know better next time.
