Hi guys and gals, how junior is LAS, could I get this base during training. And is the seniority during training based on age or SSN ?

Yes, it's very possible, though nothing is guaranteed. The most recent vacancy award had dozens of new-hires go to LAS.

It's based on age.

It's based on age.
…and per company officials, pilot QOL is no benefit to SWA.

Thank you for the information. I know this is highly subjective and subject to fluctuation, but how long had you been at the company before you were able to get weekends off, utilizing the various schedule adjustment tools available (not just your original award)?

I currently get weekends off at my ULCC, but I commute. I’m a 2 hour drive from MDW. My wife is a school teacher, so weekends are the only extended time we get together… hence my questions.

So I have been here a year. In that year, I have been awarded basically the following after IOE

1 consolidation line without weekends off.
2 months reserve without weekends off.
1 month of reserve with weekends off
2 months of blank likes without weekends off
2 hard line with weekends off
1 hard line with partial weekends off

I am PHX based if that helps. I really think it depends on the month and what's going on. If it helps, I was able to adjust all but the reserve schedules to more of what I wanted, albeit not with full weekends off every time. My guess is that after about a year or so here, in the right base you could hold weekends. You can certainly do it if you are willing to work reserve.

scheduling tools are no longer available. They take all the open time trips and build consolidation lines. Even in the good times the weekday trips in ELITT are gone literally within the first minute it opens. After that it’s all weekends. These days, there’s maybe 3-5 trips in there at a given time. Expect weekends for several years until you can get to 40%. LAS has the best seniority (in at 50% there after 1.5 yrs)

Is it true that you can request a consolidation line that is not in your awarded base? Say BWI based but you live in DAL? Heard that was a thing a while ago.

consolidation line will be in awarded base. If you finish IOE at the beginning of the month they will try to find trips in your desired base to fill the rest of that month, assuming your training isn’t delayed into the consolidation month itself
