It was fine until D Concourse opened and then it became a mess back in the ally. Oh, and it has nothing to do with being in a hurry.

Never been about rushing… it’s about the guys/gays jumping the cue like they are the only ones waiting to push.

You’re right. Especially the gays. They’re by far the worst about it!

And it was fine after concourse D was done. It absolutely has to do with being in a hurry! Wait your damn turn for a spot. The push crews know the drill, it's the clown pilots who are all up in a tizzy! 🤡

Stop. I am still laughing, spit my beer out. I am the worst at misspelling, that could have been me :)

It's about time, honestly.
Say what you will about being in a hurry, etc, but trying to push from the corner gates during a rush time is ridiculous. There's no queue, it's a free for all. When that's my last leg and I am itching to make my commute, I am absolutely in a hurry. I am betting this was the airport authority's idea, as I can't see swa willingly paying for a few extra employees to sit in a ramp tower and issue fake clearances.

Because the 4 other gates in that corner are also pushing at the exact same time for the same spot you need? GMAB.
A ramp controller is not gonna help you in that situation even when it does exist. It's always been about being in a rush.....and you just proved it.
Having a person on a radio guiding you on what to do is just another SWAism of "it's how we do things".

You just made no sense, but alright.
Most SWA stations don't have ramp control. My point was that when you have multiple gates pushing for the same spot and there is no queue along with inbound planes vying for some of those gates and waiting for them to push holding out and further clogging the works, it can turn into a fu[%ing mess in a hurry. Having someone there to play referee will definitely help the situation. In addition, they are adding a whole new concourse with buses going back and forth. What can possibly go wrong, right?
I don't rush anything and I honestly haven't flown with many people here who do, and really none in the last 5 or so years. That being said, I don't want to sit on a gate for 20 minutes while the mess gets sorted out on its own (not a figure I pulled out of my butt, I very recently had this scenario twice in one week). While I don't really care about the company's metrics, when my goals and their goals align, I am going to try to achieve them. I would personally rather spend another night at home instead of an extra 15 minutes waiting to push. Not sure how not wanting to sit at a gate with the jetbridge pulled back is rushing, but the APC way seems to be to jump all over anyone who isn't part of some made up amateur hour job action that nobody else seems to know about, so I guess maybe I am rushing? I don't know. You decide.

Seems like you’re rushing from where I’m sitting.

Having recently been on a vacation to a foreign country, I was observing the action at a major international airport as we waited on our flight back to the US to board. Not one other airline was operating at the pace that SWA jets operate at all too often. This only served to reinforce that we as an airline and Flight Ops department have a rich history of “hurry up”.

Disagree? Tell me another airline that operates at the pace that we do! The really sad part is that we’ve actually slowed down to something more in line with “normal” in the decade or so that I’ve been here.
