SWA still allows "cabin only" if no or expired passport if seats are available. Some other airlines will deny any access.

Neither the TSA or FAA require a passport to Jumpseat. It's a holdover from the early days of CASS before pictures were added. Some airlines have continued to require it and at airlines that don't require many agents still ask. Hopefully it will get better.

Happy story: I'm a UAL pilot (that isn't the happy part I'm referring to) and circumstances required me to try and catch a ride on SWA at the last minute today.

I showed up at the gate 15 min prior to departure...cold...no listing, no nothin'. Gate agent was working out some stuff with a pax in front of me right up to the push time. When it was my turn, I kind of said thanks anyway, but she said hang on, lemme see...called down to the bridge driver and who knows whom else, then hands me my boarding pass, "go! You're on! LUV YA!"

I thanked her profusely, ran down, said hi, thanks to the bros up front, then the FA said lemme hang your coat, grab a row there are plenty of empties. The other FA gave me a can of water, cookies, and yet another smile.

You guys run a very people-friendly act; I mean that kinda like the way Hooters takes care of their customers, like very friendly and homey, maybe not 100% classy but who wants classy if it's all stuffy anyway? I wish there was that attitude at every airline.

Bottom line: a bunch of SWA employees delayed a flight for a freeloader who works for the competition.

I didn't have the opportunity to thank every employee that was involved, but I did thank a few. The best way I can return the favor is to pay it forward, and I will.

Do you guys have one or two jump seats? I know airbus 320 has two but I am not sure with 737??

Most of ours have two. A few of the used aircraft have one and 30 of the 52 AirTran -700's have one.

Thanks for the info I know some airlines prefer on jump seat in the cockpit and others two. I was not sure with swa thought thanks again

Just to expand on what TR4a said, if it's a -300 with no winglets there's a 50% chance of one jumpseat; if it's a -300 with winglets 10% chance of one jumpseat; if it's a -500 there's two jumpseats; if it's a -700 10% chance of one jumpseat; if it's an -800 there's two jumpseats.

Every airplane SWA has received new from Boeing comes with two jumpseats (unlike another airline around here that shall remain nameless).

Thanks for the info. I know my airline is guilty of it. The more airline pilots in the cockpit the better

Funny how the manliest of men don't mind a little thigh on thigh action when it comes to going home from a trip! Even better if the Captain is ridiculously tall.

Yah, I know exactly what you are talking about. Seems to happen a lot more so with regional guys
