SL14 addresses the CDO. Maximum ground time can only be 2:30.

Maybe it's the labels that are confusing, but you do know there is a difference between a redeye and a CDO. A redeye is a flight usually from the west coast to a destination east of the Mississippi which arrives around sunrise. Your duty period usually starts after 2200L. On the other hand, a CDO (also called a stand up) can be between any 2 points, but has an intervening short stay in a hotel, 5-7 hours, which doesn't reset the duty clock as it keeps running (hence the "continuous" part of CDO). Usually a redeye is one leg. CDO's are usually round trips between city pairs (for AT it's ATL-XXX-ATL) during the same duty period.

In any case, I hope SWA takes the redeyes and SL14 prohibits CDO's (I personally don't think they are safe, so I avoid them at all costs).

Multi leg redeyes are something you want to avoid as well- particularly a redeye followed by another flight (i.e. leave lax at 2300, get into dal at 0530 and then fly some other destination after that). Those things are bad juju and a violation waiting to happen- most major carriers got rid of them about 15 years ago.

I think spirit tried doing them for a little while recently.

Is that for any type of flying or just between certain hours? Last month I had a 3 leg trip with a 3:55 ground time in SJU. Sitting for more than 3 hours is common at AT. Makes a long day longer and wastes your time. I suspect it will get worse as airplanes cross the fence.

Only for redeye flights. We have a DHR (Duty Hour Ratio) rig which pays 0.74 TFP per duty hour. So a 10 hour duty day would pay 7.4 TFP minimum.
