Whackmaster: Care to comment on the quality of your crystal ball? I would dearly love to see you make a post that simply says, "I was very wrong."

My crystal ball was very wrong about 2014 hiring at SWA (and I'm happy about that fact).

Any new updates/changes to the seniority of the bases? I heard Dallas opened up big time with the Wright Amendment going away... Thanks in advance for all the info.

Dallas went senior for the Wright growth. There are a few junior guys who snuck in there over the summer. Houston is in a similar situation. West coast is still very junior, with OAK and PHX seeing the most junior FOs. Other than that, same same. I think once Atlanta opens up, many of the airtran peeps are going to head that way, so there will be some more shuffling around.

What's the overall story with MDW? I've heard and read conflicting reports of whether it goes junior/senior. Is MDW a big commuter base or do many pilots live there?

Thx E6, appreciate all the SWA info.

MDW has a good mix of junior and senior folks. Plenty of new hires and recent upgrades are there. I have flown a few trips out of there, and I really liked the people. Generally a younger and more outgoing crowd. There are quite a few commuters there, and the crashpad situation there as well as the number of flights lends itself to commuting. It is swa's biggest crew base right now.

I looked up the hire dates of the bottom 20 FOs in the domiciles listed below and put the dates from senior to junior.

OAK: 3/2012-9/2014
LAS: 4/2014-9/2014
PHX: 7/2014-8/2014
DAL: 3/2014-6/2014
MDW: 4/2014-8/2014

Based on this I think it's safe to say you'll probably hold any of these bases within 6 months of starting class. Let me know if you want any other info.

S.B.

I need some opinion before I bid for a base. BWI and MDW at 90% or PHX and LAS at 70? I commute from CLT. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
